Welcome to WPCA Online!

The Woodley Park Community Association is an organization of people who live and work in the Woodley Park neighborhood in northwest Washington, D.C. It was founded in 1965. Its purposes are:

  • to maintain and advance the quality of the neighborhood as an in-town, generally residential community;
  • to preserve and enhance the social, physical and historic characteristics of the neighborhood and historic places within and adjacent to it;
  • to provide a forum for exchange of information and discussion of issues of relevance to the area; and
  • to represent residents of the area before governmental and other entities.
Woodley Park is generally defined as the area bounded by Rock Creek Park and the National Zoological Park to the East, Calvert Street/Cleveland Avenue/Garfield Street to the South, 34th Street to the West, and Woodley Road to its intersection with Klingle Road and thereafter Klingle Road to the North. Click here to see a map (both sides of streets included).

Part of this area, the Old Woodley Park Historic District, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. The design guidelines for rowhouses in the district, revised in 2016, are here and for commercial buildings, here. The historic district designation contains lots of information about neighborhood history and architecture. A few years ago, some of our neighbors put together a more personal history of Woodley Park, and you can read it here.

We keep our members up-to-date with email updates every couple of weeks. We used to publish a print newsletter called The Acorn. Here is the last issue, and here is the archive.

WPCA's Executive Committee is made up of elected officers and at-large members. You can find out more about these people and what they do here. The full membership meets at least twice each year; you can learn more about these meetings here. The calendar will let you know about meetings and other neighborhood activities.

Let us know (wpcadc@aol.com) if you have any questions or comments about this site or if you think there's anything we should be doing for the neighborhood.

And, finally, if you're not already a member of the WPCA, you should sign up here (it's free, but donations are welcome).
